About Me

Clinical excellence
and a passion for teaching.

I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2013, where I was awarded the British Endodontic Society’s Tom Pitt Ford Prize for best student in endodontics, along with a prize in Conservative Dentistry. After completing foundation training and an SHO post in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I spent five years in general dental practice, continuing to develop my skills through extensive further training.

I then undertook specialist training at UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London, achieving my MClinDent in Endodontics with Distinction and the Membership in Endodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I am on the GDC Specialist List in Endodontics. Alongside my clinical work, I teach and lecture to undergraduate students, general dentists, and dentists undertaking specialist training.

I believe outstanding endodontic care combines technical precision with kindness and clear communication. My priority is always to make patients feel comfortable, well-informed, and supported throughout their treatment.

01

Pain Diagnosis

Dental pain is not always straightforward. I carry out a thorough assessment using clinical tests and advanced imaging, including CBCT, to accurately identify the cause and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

02

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment removes infection or inflammation inside a tooth. The damaged tissue is carefully removed, the canal system is cleaned and disinfected, and then sealed to relieve pain and preserve your natural tooth.

03

Root Canal Re-treatment

When a previously treated tooth fails to heal or develops new problems, re-treatment involves carefully removing the old filling material, thoroughly cleaning the canals again, and resealing them to promote healing.

04

Endodontic Microsurgery

When conventional treatment is not sufficient, microsurgery (apicectomy) allows access to the root tip to remove infection and seal the root end. Performed under high magnification for maximum precision.

05

Cracked Teeth

Using the dental operating microscope and CBCT imaging, I can accurately assess the extent of a crack and determine the best way to save the tooth. Early diagnosis is key, as cracks can progress over time.

06

Dental Trauma

Teeth damaged by accidents or sports injuries need prompt specialist assessment. I provide expert care for cracked, displaced, or knocked-out teeth, with the aim of preserving the tooth and restoring function.

07

Vital Pulp Therapy

When the pulp is affected by decay or trauma but still capable of healing, vital pulp therapy can preserve its health and encourage natural repair, often avoiding the need for full root canal treatment.

08

External Cervical Resorption

This uncommon condition involves breakdown of tooth structure near the gumline, often without early symptoms. Early detection is important. Treatment focuses on removing affected tissue and restoring the tooth.

09

Internal Whitening

A tooth can become discoloured after trauma or previous root canal treatment. Internal whitening is a safe and effective way to lighten the tooth from the inside, helping it blend naturally with surrounding teeth.

10

Intentional Replantation

In selected complex cases, the tooth is carefully removed, treated outside the mouth to address the problem directly, and repositioned back into its socket, helping save teeth that might otherwise need extraction.

11

Deep Margin Elevation

When decay or damage extends deep below the gumline, deep margin elevation raises the margin to a more accessible level, allowing for a stronger and more predictable final restoration without more invasive surgery.

12

Post Placement

After root canal treatment, some teeth need extra support before a crown can be placed. A post is fitted inside the root canal to help retain and strengthen the final restoration in heavily damaged teeth.

13

Second Opinions & Diagnosis

I provide detailed second opinions, CBCT interpretation, and restorability assessments. Many patients are referred when the diagnosis is unclear or when advice is needed on whether a tooth can be saved.

What to expect, from first contact to final restoration.

1

Referral or Self-Referral

Your dentist refers you, or you contact me directly. No referral letter needed. I welcome self-referrals and aim to respond within one working day.

2

Consultation & Imaging

A thorough assessment with periapical radiographs and, where needed, CBCT 3D imaging. I will explain findings clearly and discuss all your options in plain English.

3

Treatment

Treatment under high magnification using the dental operating microscope, with rubber dam isolation throughout. Most appointments last 60 to 120 minutes.

4

Return to Your Dentist

A full clinical report and radiographs are sent promptly to your dentist. You return to them for your final crown or filling to protect the tooth long-term.

Everything you need to know.

These are the questions I am asked most often. If you can’t find the answer you need, please get in touch.

Contact me →
Does root canal treatment hurt? +

With modern techniques and effective local anaesthetic, most patients feel little to no discomfort during treatment. Many tell me it feels much better than they expected.

How long does the appointment take? +

Most treatments are completed in one or two visits, with each appointment usually lasting between 60 and 120 minutes depending on complexity. I will give you a clear timeline after your consultation.

Will I need a crown afterwards? +

In many cases, yes. A crown or onlay is often recommended to protect the tooth and prevent fracturing. I will discuss this with you during your consultation.

What is the success rate of root canal treatment? +

With specialist care, success rates are generally between 85% and 95% depending on the individual case. During your consultation I will give you a realistic prognosis for your specific tooth.

Do I need a referral from my dentist to see you? +

No. You are welcome to contact me directly for a consultation or treatment. If you are self-referred, I will send all correspondence and reports directly to you.

I am very anxious about dental treatment. Can you help? +

Yes. I see many anxious patients and take extra time to explain everything clearly and work at a pace that feels comfortable. For severe anxiety, intravenous sedation can also be provided. Please mention this when booking.
